About Me
I am originally from Indianapolis, Indiana and have always wanted to become a teacher! From an early age I would play school with my younger brother, who was ALWAYS the student! After high school I graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I moved to Florida in 1993 to avoid the cold snowy winters and began teaching sixth-grade Math, Science, and Social Studies at Bruner Middle School. After teaching at Bruner for three years I had the chance to move to the technology department in Niceville to instruct our Okaloosa County Teachers on integrating technology into their classroom. During that time I was able to earn my Master's degree in Educational Leadership/Educational Training & Management (with an emphasis in Instructional Technology) from the University of West Florida. While I loved meeting all of the teachers and using all of the new technology, I also missed seeing all of the cheery faces of the younger students each day, so after two years I moved to Wright Elementary to be the Media Specialist, Gifted Instructor, and Instructional Television teacher. I loved everyone at Wright, but two years later I was able to move to Florosa Elementary for a similar teaching position, but a location that was 45 minutes closer to my house! In 2007 I had a new baby and moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin for a year. After a year of freezing temperatures and many feet of snow, we moved back to Florida and I began teaching partial days of Math, Science, and Social Studies at the Northwest Florida Ballet Academy. The next year I was able to have a full-time teaching job again at Destin Elementary where I taught fifth-grade Math for two years and even had some of my current students. In 2012 I was very excited to follow my fifth-graders to Destin Middle School, where I am currently teaching World History and Yearbook!
I'm looking forward to a fantastic year!!!
